Firefighters used a ladder to rescue two young children locked in a first floor bedroom on Saturday.
Worried parents called the emergency services after the lock on the door into the room at the property in Kingston Road, Leatherhead, jammed shut.
The firefighters entered through an open bedroom window to free the two-year-old girl and four-year-old boy at about 6.30pm.
A Leatherhead fire station spokesman said: "The lock mechanism had given up. We had to put a ladder outside, go through the window and take the lock mechanism apart to get them out."
He said their parents were a bit worried because they could not reach their children, but the children were not distressed.
He said: "I’m sure they were just playing with their toys because we got there pretty quickly. They did not have time to get upset."
