Drivers travelling through Weybridge can expect delays for a week while urgent investigations into a sinking carriageway on Seven Hills Road are carried out.

The major road will be closed for seven days to allow Surrey County Council to look at it and Southern Gas Networks to investigate faulty gas valves in the same area, which threaten supplies.

Temporary traffic signals have been in place since 6am on Tuesday, August 27, and access will be maintained throughout the investigations.

The road will be closed about 100m from the junction with Byfleet Road.

Lane restrictions on Byfleet Road will prevent right hand turns into and out of Seven Hills Road.

Surrey County Council has warned drivers to expect severe delays during the seven day period.
