I love all the seasons. They each have their good and bad points, and as we’ve now dived head first into autumnal conditions with the wet weather, I’ve looked on the bright side and accepted my garden seriously needed watering.

I had my second child at the beginning of summer and was able to enjoy the beautiful weather with my family over the last couple of months; eating ice creams and running after my toddler in the park – it was fantastic.

However, I have to admit I am looking forward to the winter months. So this week my husband Michael announced we were going on a family day out to the beach to enjoy the last bit of sun.

Everything was prepped the night before and we left only 15 minutes later than we said (I think it was a record).

When we stepped out of the car at Littlehampton, we were nearly blown away by the gusts of wind. My other half then admitted he had heard gales were expected.

Anyway we had a walk along the beach with my son barely being able to withstand the wind and his eyes streaming with water, but it was fun and we laughed uncontrollably trying to clutch on to our fish and chips.

In other news, the other half has relented and allowed the heating to be turned on, warm coats have been drafted out of the attic and extra blankets been placed on the beds – winter is coming and I can’t wait.

I know the cold weather doesn’t agree with everyone, but it’s a great time of year – especially as it reminds me of the build-up to giving birth to my firstborn.

So let’s raise a glass to cosy nights in, open fires, cups of hot chocolate and the start of Strictly Come Dancing.
