Nearly 1,000 people have used the Wandsworth Foodbank service since it first opened five months ago.
The charity, which has four distribution centres across Wandsworth, provides food donated from the public to those in need who have been referred to the service.
A total of 964 people have used the foodbanks, including 394 children.
The centres are located in St Mark’s Church, Battersea Rise, St Paul's Church, Welham Road, Tooting, Southwest London Vineyard, Tildesley Road, Putney and Shaftesbury Christian Centre in Austin Road, Battersea.
Research compiled from each foodbank found 27 per cent have used it because of benefit delays and 19 per cent because of benefit changes.
Other reasons for struggling to put food on the table include low income, 19 per cent of users, and 11 per cent are struggling with debt.
All of the food distributed has been donated by schools, churches and shoppers with 13 tonnes donated so far.
