Diwali celebrations got off to an early start at the weekend.
The Indian festival of light is in two weeks, but hundreds enjoyed the Diwali Festival at Croydon Conference Centre, in Surrey Street on Sunday.
Organised by the International Society of Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) of South Norwood, guests enjoyed performances of traditional Indian dance which were followed by worship and offering prayers to the Lord Krishna.
Music from the sitar and tabla drums filled the air and a message on Diwali was delivered by the Temple President, Ananta Vijay Das.
Croydon Central MP Gavin Barwell and deputy Mayor Councillor Badsha Quadir were among guests who watched a play on India Vedic Scripture The Ramayana, performed by the Bhaktivedanta Players.
Guests enjoyed a vegetarian Indian feast following the performance.
