I’ve heard and seen lots of Halloween fun happening this week but none of that activity has been in this household as I haven’t had any time to think about carving pumpkins or make pumpkin pie.
Apart from the usual; washing clothes, changing nappies, going to the park, and having friends over for lunch, this week has been all about getting the little ones to adjust to the clocks going back an hour.
It all began with my wonderful other half forgetting about the said change in time, and waking us all up to get cracking when we could have had an extra hour in bed.
This silly ghoulish behaviour was noted.
The other strange phenomenon this week was that Michael and I had a night out together for the first time in nearly two years.
We put the children to bed but it was as if the baby knew we had plans to go out, as she took an extra 15 minutes to settle.
This meant we missed our train into London and our table reservation.
Normally this wouldn’t be a problem as most places can squeeze you in at a later time, but it was a Saturday night and knew it wasn’t going to happen.
It probably was a little ambitious to be honest, so we headed to our local instead. We had a great time, although it did feel a little strange not to have to think of anyone else but ourselves.
We reminisced about the days we didn’t have a care in the world and could lie in or go out whenever we wanted. How times have changed.
But we wouldn’t have it any other way.
Anyway we only called my sister, who was looking after our children, once to see if all was well. Phew!
No spells had been cast on the house and all was quiet so it meant we could order a cheeky dessert.
