The van which was pictured by a resident in Long Walk, New Malden
It looked like a classic case of a council parking officer caught red-handed.
But the driver of this van in New Malden had a reasonable excuse.
The woman who sent this picture in said: "Kingston Council are quick enough to issue drivers with fines when illegally parked in disabled bays but there own parking patrol officers are allowed?"
But a council spokesman said the van which was parked in Long Walk on November 8, had served a disabled person who had died and so the bay was to be removed.
Residents often say they believe council contractors get away with things they would have a £90 ticket issued for but no council workers have been disciplined for parking in disabled bays this year.
