With the centenary of WWI on the doorstep Rose Theatre is asking Kingston residents to bring forward world war memorabilia for an exhibition to mark the occasion.
The exhibition 'Galsworthy and Human battles on the Home Front' will focus on the life of Kingston author and Nobel laureate John Galsworthy during WWI.
Rose Theatre’s audio-visual exhibition, opening in September 2014, will draw on Galsworthy’s collection of writings and diaries.
Born in Kingston Hill, Galsworthy worked as a hospital orderly in France during the war and this lead him to set up the first magazine for disabled servicemen as well as campaign for their better treatment.
As well as Galsworthy’s collections the exhibition will be supported by voices and memories from the community, both from the home front and the battlefield.
A spokesman for the Rose Theatre said: "A selection of images, objects and recorded memories will conjure up Kingston during the First World War. We are seeking your contributions. Your theatre needs you."
If you have any family memorabilia, stories or memories from the First World War which you would like to contribute to the exhibition visit www.digitaldrama.org or call 07786 142330.
Deadline for contributions: March 28th 2014
