One of the great things about my job filming for The One Show is that I get to meet lots of interesting people all over the country.
I find out about what they do, where they work and what makes them happy and in turn they want to know about Michael and my children.
Well to be honest, I don’t really need an excuse to talk about my family, as I seem to do it all the time.
Sometimes I have to hold back as I fear it can be a little boring for some people, especially those without children.
I’ve become one of those overexcited mothers who get their phone out at any given opportunity to show pictures of their children to anyone who’ll look and listen.
To be fair, although I have no memory space left on my phone due to the thousands of pictures stored on it, they do come in handy when I am away filming and this week I had to be away for the night.
Now Michael is more than capable of looking after the children when I’m away and no I don’t text, ring or set up hidden cameras to check up on them all, but I do miss them a lot.
It was so strange. I woke up in the middle of the night disorientated.
Where was Michael? He wasn’t lying next to me.
I sat bolt upright in the dark. Where was my baby daughter?
The panic set in. It took me another few minutes to realise all was well and I was in a random Premier Inn tucked away in the Northumberland countryside. Phew.
I managed to get back to sleep eventually, but it’s at times like this I realise there really is no place like home.
