After taking on the Midlands and winning, an up and coming fashion designer has Milan and London in her sights.
Kamilla Jones, from Croydon, was one of 40 candidates shortlisted to exhibit their work at the Midlands Fashion Awards, which showcase the talents of emerging fashion designers, stylists, make-up artists and accessory designers working or studying across the region.
And the 23-year-old took the best young designer of the year title after impressing the judges with her women’s clothes that are inspired by the costumes worn in Japanese martial arts.
She said: “Having recently graduated, I was delighted just to have been shortlisted for the awards so I’m ecstatic about having won the title of best young designer.
“It’s given me a tremendous boost and motivated me to strive to achieve the highest standards in my work.”
Before competing in the awards, the former Coventry University fashion student also studied at the Naba design academy in Milan.
She is now back working from her premises in West Croydon as a freelance designer and fashion analyst.
