It might not have been the Beatles in America, but Corinthian Casuals received a hero's welcome in Brazil this week.
The King George's Field outfit are in Sao Paulo this as they prepared to rake on Brazilian giants SC Corinthian Paulista - the club Casuals inspired locals to establish during a previous tour in 1910 when simply called Corinthian FC.
The two teams meet in a friendly on Sunday at the 48,000 capacity Arena Corinthians - a match that was orginally meant to be played 100 years ago, but was cancelled due to the outbreak of World War One.
Casuals were met by hundreds of fans at the airport and have been training for the match at Paulista's brand new training complex under the watchful eye of Paulista's general football manager former Arsenal star Edu
"It has been an unbelievable trip so far," said press officer Stuart Tree.
"We were greeted by hundreds of fans at the airport, which was incredible. It made front page of the newspapers too.
"We visited a local hospital to give gifts to sick children, some of whom had terrible forms of cancer. It was very humbling, but the kids loved us being there.
"We also had a futsal masterclass by the best coaches in Brazil and attended an U20s Cup quarter final match with Corinthians involved and over 10,000 in attendance.
"Televison and press reporters are following us everywhere and we're treated like heroes. It's just out of this world."
