Corinthian Casuals boss Matt Howard must wish his men could have a winter break scheduled every year, writes Stuart Amos.
The King George’s Field outfit are unbeaten since returning from their tour to Brazil and have taken points off promotion chasing Faversham Town and Whyteleafe in recent weeks.
A last minute Dave Hodges strike – added to first half goals from Jamie Byatt and Juevan Spencer – secured a 3-2 win at ‘Leafe on Saturday.
Casuals topped the Ryman Division One South table earlier in the season. and are enjoying a good run of form of late.
But even so, Howard admitted it was about time Lady Luck shone on his men as she did at the weekend.
“The way we play, we knew we’d create chances and on another day we could’ve scored four or five goals,” he said at th e weekend.
“It’s pleasing to know we’ll always create chances, even against a strong side like Whyteleafe.
“The amount of times we’ve conceded a last minute goal, it’s about time we got one ourselves."
Casuals could not make it a fourth win in succession at struggling Walton Casuals on Wednesday, although Byatt did net his 22nd goal of the season.
