Former England cricket captain Alec Stewart was among the first to hail Corinthian Casuals striker Jamie Byatt's match-winning display against Carshalton Athletic on Tuesday.
Byatt struck a 32 minute first half hat-trick as Casuals thumped Carshalton Athletic 4-1 on Tuesday night at King George's Field.
It was the former Kingstonian and Tooting & Mitcham United striker's third triple of the season and took his season's goal tally to 26 in all competitions.
Surrey CCC legend Stewart – himself a former Corinthian Casuals player – tweeted: “@CorinthianCas Great win lads. Jamie Byatt for England!!”
Boss Matt Howard's men are closing in on last season's points haul record of 55 and the manager wants his men to follow Byatt's lead to better that mark this time around.
“That was a fantastic hat-trick from Jamie. He could’ve had four," he said after his side moved to 49 points with 10 games still to play.
"Jamie scores goals because Jamie’s the only one in our team that actually shoots.
"If we can get the others to take chances and get shots away, then they might chip in with a few more goals here and there."
