On September 10 or 11, 1942, a Short Stirling from the Royal Air Force crashed in the neighbourhood from where I live, in the comunity of Echt, Netherlands.
The site of the crash is near the Monastery of Lillbosch.
Almost the whole crew was killed in action, one airman did escape, but was killed in another crash.
The wireless operator Erich Hubert Cook was taken prisoner of war and managed to return to England.
I have already managed to get in contact with the relatives of some of his crew.
I am trying to find out if some of his relatives are still alive or perhaps someone who has heard of this airman. What I do know about this airman: He was born on December 31 in 1917.
He enlisted in the RAF in 1939 and he used to live at 4 Strathmore Road in West Croydon. He was a pilot officer in 15 Squadron RAF. Anyone with details can email me at marjo.hui jskens@home.nl
