Met Police may have been forced to release three players after last week’s FA Cup first round exit, but one youngster has come out of things smelling of roses.
Youth team player Tane Caubo made his senior Blues debut in last Tuesday’s 1-0 defeat to Sittingbourne and collected the man of the match award.
Midfielder Caubo was unlucky not to score on the night, but his performance caught the eye of League Two Barnet, who promptly offered him a deal to switch to north London.
Joining him out the Imber Court exit door – for very different reasons – are Tom Collins, Ronayne Marsh-Browne and loanee Craig King.
“We wish them all well for the future, but losing £3,000 prize money and a very good chance of making another £4,500 in the next round has its consequences,” said boss Jimmy Cooper.
“Tane is one of many excellent youth team players that we have at the club and we all wish him well."
Met Police’s Ryman Premier Division campaign lurched from bad to worse this week.
The Blues crashed 6-0 at Billericay Town on Tuesday after a last minute strike robbed the Blues of three points at struggling VCD Athletic as they drew 1-1 on Saturday.
Boss Jimmy Cooper’s men, beaten 7-0 by Kingstonian earlier in the season, now have the third worst goal difference in the league.
