The headteacher of a secondary school has been suspended from his job.
Richard Rudd, headteacher of Edenham High School in Shirley was suspended pending an investigation after “allegations” were made against him.
Mr Rudd’s suspension was officially confirmed in a statement from the school at 4pm yesterday.
Parents were told of the suspension through a text message linking to a statement on the school’s website.
The school, in Orchard Way, became an academy under the management of Sutton based Greenshaw Learning Trust in September last year.
Will Smith, executive head teacher of the Greenshaw Learning Trust, said in the statement: “Following allegations made against Richard Rudd, the head teacher at Edenham High School, “Mr Rudd has been suspended, without prejudice, pending an investigation.
“Mr David Webb will be acting up as head teacher whilst an investigation is carried out. We will update parents with further information at the appropriate time.”
The trust declined to comment further on the allegations.
Edenham was rated good by Ofsted in its last inspection in 2011.
