Captain America and the Avengers may be sitting atop the box office pile this week while Batman and Superman shared the crown last month but now is the time to prepare for the return of the X-Men.
The film series which kick-started the re-emergence of superhero movies way back in 2000 is back for its sixth outing on May 18.
It follows on from the timeline-bending antics of 2014’s Days of Future Past, which saw the original cast led by Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen come face-to-face with First Class’s younger iterations led by James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender.

Ex-Machina and Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Oscar Isaac stars as an ancient mutant called Apocalypse who sets about trying to destroy humanity. It’s down to Charles Xavier (McAvoy) and his young X-Men to stop them.
