A new film festival coming to Croydon will celebrate movies with music at the heart of them.
The Rhythm ‘N’ Views Film Festival from July 18 to 31 will launch with a screening of Twenty Feet From Stardom, about backing singers who supported the likes of Mick Jagger, followed by Q&A with Andrea Grant who has been a backing vocalist for Robbie Williams, Lisa Stansfield and Strictly Come Dancing.
In addition to screenings of new and classic films, the festival – which partners with Thornton Heath Arts Week – will also include Q&As with directors, filmmaking masterclasses, short films and a quiz at venues including the David Lean Cinema at the Clocktower and Matthew’s Yard cafe.
The organisers hope this summer’s event will be a taster ahead of the introduction of a larger festival. They are currently looking for volunteers (e-mail srexpression@gmail.com), short film submissions (rhythmandviews@yahoo.com) and suggestions from film lovers for what they would like to see at the festival.
