One of Broadway’s best-loved musicals will take a bow in Hampton Hill this weekend.
Teddington Theatre Club will perform the Pulitzer and multi Tony Award-winning Rent at Hampton Hill Theatre from Sunday (June 26) until July 2.
Set in New York’s gritty East Village, the rock musical tells the story of a group of bohemians struggling to live and pay their rent.
Director Dane Hardie, who will host a special post-show discussion on Sunday, said: “When Rent debuted on Broadway, it was a game changer.
“No one could foresee how it would influence and shape musical theatre and the wider attitudes and preconceptions on what can be attained through performance.
“Rent remains relevant 20 years on and continues to demonstrate how political and socio-economic angst can be tackled head on and overcome through community, friendship and love.”
Rent is not suitable for children aged under 14. Tickets cost £15 and £17. Call 0845 838 7529 or go to ttc-boxoffice.org.uk
