Well the season of summer has made an entrance of some sort, probably not for the right reason, but we certainly know it’s here!
I hate talking about the weather but after a night of loud thunder and lightning which thankfully didn’t wake up the little ones, I find it hard not to discuss.
This week serious flooding has meant train delays, reports of fallen trees and burst pipes in and around Surrey, all in time for the EU referendum vote.
I remember the days when the seasons were clearly mapped out and you knew where you were and what clothes to drag out of the attic.
Now it’s a case of going out, dressing inappropriately for the day and as a result one gets completely drenched due to a downpour. Anyway, we all should know better by now!
Luckily there have been pockets of sunshine over the last week that we’ve been able to enjoy.
We had friends over on Saturday and planned to have a bouncy castle in the garden for the children to enjoy.
Again the weather was to be the deciding factor and it came to the very last minute that we took the plunge!
It was a gamble worth taking at 9pm on Friday night as we only had a bit of drizzle for 10 minutes on the day and the rest of the time it was dry albeit cloudy.
Then there was Father’s Day on Sunday. We headed up to Warren House, one of our favourite local spots, to have a slap up lunch and spoil the ‘Daddy’ of the house.
Once there, the sun shone through the restaurant and it was gorgeous, but before we knew it the clouds were upon us and it was overcast once again.
So our umbrellas are at the ready, wellington boots by the door and rain coats have been dragged out of hiding.
And even though summer hasn’t properly started, it doesn’t really matter, because at least all our lawns are looking green and luscious!
