A concert to combat the spread of violence among teenage gangs is expected to attract an audience of more than 1,000 in Battersea this week.

The 11th annual Peace Concert at Clapham Grand tomorrow will be headlined by west London trio WSTRN and feature established acts alongside the chance for local talent to showcase their abilities.

The concert is organised by charity S.T.O.R.M., which was founded by Battersea single mum councillor Marie Hanson in 2004, initially to empower and support women who have suffered from domestic violent but has evolved to help young people by providing facilities and services to provide a more positive lifestyle.

Alongside performances, the concert will raise awareness of local organisations and support systems with advice available on education, training, employment and business start-up opportunities.

Cllr Hanson said: “Here at S.T.O.R.M we are passionately committed to addressing social issues such as poverty, long-term unemployment and youth crime, and the Peace Concert gives us a great opportunity to bring the community together.

“We are overwhelmed by the support we have received from our supporters, partners and especially those artists giving up their time to take part in our movement over the years.

“We are so grateful because without them, we wouldn’t be where we are today.”

Other artists in the bill for at the Peace Concert include The Voice contestant Chase Morton, Jesse Grange and Paigey Cakey.
