A comedy tour of London – starting and finishing in Wandsworth – will raise money to help blood cancer patients.

Top comedians including Richard Herring, Sara Pascoe, Nathan Caton, Cary Marx and Dave Fulton have signed up for the Laugh For Life tour, which gets under way at The Bedford in Balham on September 25 and closes at Battersea Barge on January 29.

A completely different line-up will feature at each of the events with some taking part because of personal experience of the illness, such as Matt Price who lost an aunt to blood cancer.

Matt said: “My Auntie Shirley had blood cancer. She was an inspiring woman and when I was offered the gig, I thought of her.

“I'm very happy to play a small part in helping a charity that is doing so much good.”

Organised by comedian Roddy Fraser, the tour raises money for charity DKMS which works to increase the size and diversity of the blood stem cell registry. Blood stem cell donation is the only chance of survival for many blood cancer patients but many do not find a donor simply because there aren’t enough people registered.

Roddy said: “The drive for donors is a very, very important and direct way of dealing with a medical issue that could be potentially devastating. It's not an abstract thing, it's literally that one person might be able to save the life of another.”
