Stars of children’s television will lead a cast of top West End performers in pantomime in Croydon this Christmas.
Cheeky chappy Abe Jarman, who presents The Let’s Go Club on Cbeebies, will play Aladdin and circus-trained Jane Deane, who plays Dee Livery in Justin’s House, will be the Slave of the Ring in Aladdin from December 7 to 31.
With Fairfield Halls closed, Croydon’s panto has moved to Waddon Leisure Centre, which will be transformed into a 400-seat theatre for the festive season.
West End veteran Steve Fortune, whose professional career stretches back 35 years, will take on the role of Dame Widow Twankey while Steve Edwin, the voice of the Disney Channel’s Florrie’s Dragon, is the evil Abanazar.
Beat boxer KM Drew Boateng will be the Genie of the Lamp while Christine Harris, whose credits include Goodness Gracious Me, is Princess Jasmine.
The professional cast will also be joined by 16 young performers from the Croydon area.
Director Eddie Dredge said: “I’m thrilled to be able to announce such a stellar cast of talented performers for our show this Christmas – it will really be one not to be missed! It’s fantastic to have CBeebies’ stars Abe and Jane on board as they will ensure the families of Croydon are well-entertained this Christmas.”
