A Worcester Park mum who has narrated the journey of her daughter since she was born with Down’s syndrome is up for an award.
Liz has been announced as a finalist in the “Fresh Voice” category of the Brilliance in Blogging awards (BiB) for 2018.
Her online diary, ‘Coraline and Us’, is a lifestyle blog about her one-year-old daughter Coraline.
It was when she was born last August that Liz and her husband Kevin learned “unexpectedly within hours” she had both Down’s syndrome and two holes in her heart.
But since telling of their story the blog has gained online popularity and could be rewarded with an award, as they are among eight finalists in their category.
Liz said: “I am thrilled that I have been shortlisted for the BritMums Brilliance in Blogging ‘Fresh Voice’ award.
“It’s a complete dream come true, and so inspiring to me for writing.
“It’s the fact that Coraline’s name is up there in the blog, and it’s been shortlisted, that makes this so meaningful, as I set to create understanding and share love through this blog.
“The messages of love and happiness in the blog are universal, so I feel this blog is of resonance to everyone.”
The BiBs, organised by BritMums, saw more than 50,000 votes cast across 11 categories for this year.
The winners will be announced during a Twitter chat on October 12 next month at 1pm UK time.
