At times of extreme weather there are still homeless people on the streets in dangerous conditions, so here is what you can do if you see someone.
StreetLink, a non-profit organisation run by Homeless Link, receives thousands of alerts when the weather takes a turn, and they are the people to talk to if you are worried about a rough sleeper.
Sleeping rough is dangerous enough without the bad weather, but when you add freezing temperatures it becomes a greater concern, it can become life or death.
Snow is predicted over the next few weeks and temperatures are not meant to rise above freezing at night over the coming days.

So what can you do?
When temperatures drop to below freezing, local authorities have a duty to offer emergency shelter to all those sleeping rough, so this is how you can help.
StreetLink is asking people to download the app onto their phones, from here you can send an alert if you are concerned for a rough sleeper's safety.
Once they have received your alert, public and local outreach teams can track them down and take them to warmth, safety and shelter.
Alternatively you can call 0300 500 0914 or visit streetlink.org.uk.
