A mum from Worcester Park who has narrated her young daughter’s journey through life since she was born with Down’s syndrome has won an award.
Liz, who is behind the online diary “Coraline and Us” with her husband Kevin, has been announced the winner of wellbeing category in the Blood Awesome Parents SEND (BAPS) Blog Awards.
She was announced as the winner on May 16, and it comes after she was named as one of eight finalists in the “Fresh Voice” category of the Brilliance in Blogging (BiB) awards last year.
“Coraline and Us” is described as a lifestyle blog, narrating Liz’s life with her daughter, after Coraline was diagnosed with Down’s syndrome and also has two holes in her heart.
“It’s about the wellbeing Coraline brings us,” Liz said. “I think, for us, the wellbeing comes through being aware of our approach to life each day and realising how it really creates your experience of life.”
She says the blog’s message is a “universal one”, adding: “I am thrilled to have won the award. My goal is to write a column and a book in the future.”
Liz was announced as being in the final four of the wellbeing category last year before being announced the winner this month.
She went to Coventry, in Warwickshire, for the awards ceremony with her husband Kevin, Coraline’s grandmother Payne and her brother Ed.
