It can be a real nightmare when you hit unexpected traffic on your way to work.
And perhaps even more annoying is when this traffic is caused by roadworks, which if you’d known about them, you could have avoided.
As we kick of 2020 we’ve put together a round-up of all Croydon’s roadworks that are set to last more than two weeks, coming up in the next few months which are likely to cause delays.
Thorpe Close, Croydon, January 2-March 2
Thames Water is currently working here five-days-a-week replacing a water main.
The company said it will give residents 48 hours notice if their water supply will be stopped for more than four hours during this time.
Beulah Crescent, Thornton Heath, January 6-February 24
There could be disruption for more than a month at the Norbury Road junction with Osborne Road.
This is for new gas mains to be installed by SGN.
Cullesden Road, Purley, January 6-February 24
Temporary traffic lights will be used while Sutton and East Surrey Water work on the water mains here.
This will affect the road and pavement.
Balfont Close, South Croydon January 6-31

It will mean temporary traffic lights will be in place and work will affect both sides of the road.
Norfolk Avenue, South Croydon, January 13-June 15
Southern Gas Networks are proposing to replace more than 1,000 metres of gas mains and work is expected to affect the whole road.
Traffic will be managed with multi-way traffic lights.
Foxley Lane, Purley, January 14-November 27
A temporary vehicle loading area, known as a pit lane, is being set up by Transport for London here.
This will be in action between 8am and 5pm and will have an on-site marshal to ensure that vehicles are not stopping in the road.
This is to limit big trucks entering Croydon construction sites.
Warham Road, Croydon, January 20-February 16
A series of works will be carried out along Warham Road by Southern Gas Networks.
The company will be using temporary traffic lights to control traffic while it replaces gas mains under the road.

Delays are expected while Southern Gas Networks dig up the road to replace gas mains.
