A man has died in hospital after collapsing in Carshalton last night.
Police were called by the London Ambulance Service at 9.37pm on Tuesday to Beacon Grove at the junction of Carshalton High Street..
A man, aged in his late 50s, was reported to have collapsed and been found injured.
"The man was taken to a south London hospital where he died on Wednesday, February 19," a Met spokesman added.
"His next-of-kin have been informed.
"A forensic scene was put in place while officers investigated the circumstances."
The death is not being treated as suspicious but police have said it is currently unexplained.
The inquiry is being led by detectives from the South Area Command Unit.
A spokeswoman for the London Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 9:35pm yesterday (February 18) to reports of an incident at Beacon Grove, Carshalton.
"We dispatched an ambulance crew, an incident response officer and two medics in cars to the scene. We also dispatched London's Air Ambulance trauma team.
"Crews assessed a man at the scene and took him to a major trauma centre."
