Queues of people and drivers have been seen lining up down the street and out of the shop of a Sutton McDonald's a day after it was announced the fast food giant would close indefinitely.
Taking to social media the team at the home of the Big Mac wrote that the decision had not been 'taken lightly'.
It announced the closures of all branches with a 'see you soon' post, amid coronavirus fears
Explaining: "We have taken the difficult decision to close all McDonald's restaurants in the UK and Ireland by 7pm on Monday 23rd March.
"This is not a decision we are taking lightly, but one made with the well-being and safety of our employees in mind as well as the best interests of our customers."
But despite warnings from the Government and health officials alike to practice social distancing, scores of people were seen at the Oldfields Road branch on Monday.
Gabriel Raducu captured the footage, which showed cars clogging the street, waiting to get into the drive-thru.
He said: "On the last day, everybody is queuing up to catch a burger.
"This is insane."
It is understood that all McDonald's stores includes the drive-thru branches.
