Two friends from Epsom have raised £5000 in an attempt to fund additional protective equipment for staff at Epsom and St Helier hospitals.
Terri Bennett, 32 and Mandy O Brien, 55, decided to fundraise to help support their loved ones who work in the NHS.
After conducting lots of research, the pair were able to find a website that sourced safety goggles for under £1.
With donations raised so far, the two friends have purchased:
- 500 PPE masks
- 200 PPE safety goggles
- 300 PPE medical long sleeve gowns
- 200 Clinell disinfectant sprays
- 40 packs of Clinell Medical grade Antibacterial wipes
- 10 Clinell disinfectant surface cleanser
Speaking to Sutton Guardian, Terri Bennett, owner of Tidy Homes Cleaning, said:"It’s our way of giving back to the NHS during this difficult time.
"We want to be able to protect the NHS so that they can continue to save lives and protect their own lives too.
"We are overwhelmed with everyone’s generous donations and never expected anywhere near the amount raised- we are very happy."
Mandy O'Brien has also asked for donations of toiletries outside her home in Tadworth and Terri plans to create over two hundred goody bags, for hospital workers in the coming weeks.
