Football fans passing East Croydon station last week may well have thought they were seeing an eeriely accurate prediction on a billboard advertising a mobile phone text message service for World Cup scores.
The giant advertisement for T-Mobile, directly opposite the George Street station, showed a picture of a mobile phone displaying a football score in the form of a text message foretelling England's Saturday result against Denmark.
One football fan told the Guardian: "It was a little strange, considering how geared up everyone was for Saturday's match, to see the score on this billboard.
"The only way we could have played Denmark on that day was if Denmark had topped the group with France and we came second in the group of death.
"It would have been even stranger if we had won 1-0."
