A large police presence was spotted nearby Hackbridge Medical Centre yesterday ( January 4).
Police were called to reports that suggested that a man 'may have had a weapon' on London Road at around 16.39pm.
The call sparked an emergency response which saw medics and police officers rush to the scene.
A spokesperson for Met Police said: Officers attended an address in Wallington, Sutton to a 27-year-old man suffering from mental health problems.
"Information provided on the initial call suggested the man may have had access to a weapon and, in accordance with standard procedures, armed officers were sent to the scene.
"Officers made contact with the man’s partner and it was confirmed that the weapon was a toy and not dangerous to anyone.
"Medics from the London Ambulance Service (LAS) attended.
"The officers stood down the incident after confirming everyone inside the property was safe."
