A man accused of tricking a 92-year-old woman with a £160 fake coronavirus vaccine has been charged by police.

The elderly woman was administered a fake vaccine at her home in Surbiton after the suspect claimed to be from the NHS.

David Chambers, 33, also of Surbiton, south west London, was arrested on January 13.

He has now been charged with two counts of fraud by false representation, one count of common assault, and two breaches of covid regulations.

Mr Chambers denied the charges when he appeared before magistrates on Friday.

He is remanded in custody to appear at Kingston Crown Court on Friday 12 February 2021.

In the UK, coronavirus vaccines are free of charge and available via the NHS.
