St Raphael's Hospice has successfully set up their new centre in Sutton.
The centre, located at the former Carpet Right warehouse in Lodge Place, is for donations only.
Volunteers will organise the donations before sending them onto their stores which include, Banstead, Raynes Park and Wimbledon.
Sutton and Cheam MP Paul Scully welcomed the team of volunteers with a visit to the site on Friday ( April 16 ).
He spoke to the team alongside Councillors Tom Drummond, Pascoe and McDermott-Hill.
Speaking to Sutton Guardian, Paul Scully said: “It was wonderful to see first-hand how in such a short space of time St Raphael’s have moved so quickly to set up in new premises in our local community.
"I was really pleased to see a wide variety of items that the public have donated.
“A big thank you to the volunteers and the members of the public who have given so generously to an important charity.
“There is still a need for volunteers, so if you want to get involved, then please get in touch with St Raphael’s or Volunteer Centre Sutton as they are looking for new volunteers.
“I’ve always been a keen supporter of this important charity and would encourage others to support them too.”
Sara Jane Woods of St. Raphael’s Hospice, said: “It was lovely to welcome Paul to our new donation centre in Sutton.
"He was able to see first-hand how hard our staff and volunteers are working to turn the thousands of lockdown donations into hours of nursing care."
