Police issue Section 60 in Merton
Police have authorised a section 60 in Merton after reports of a number of youths with weapons in the borough.
Merton MPS took to Twitter to confirm that the powers have been issued for the whole of Merton, due to several incidents involving youths with weapons.
The Section 60 order gives police the right to search anyone in a defined area following an incident of serious violence, or when they believe serious violence will take place.
The special powers will run from 4.30 am today (April 28), until 7.30 pm tonight.
