A woman has been pronounced dead following a stabbing which took place inside a home in Cheam Village.
Emergency services were called to an incident on Park Road shortly before 10 pm on Thursday (May 27).
Officers attended and found a woman, aged in her 40s, inside the address suffering from stab injuries.
The woman was sadly pronounced dead at the scene at 10.34 pm.
Her next of kin are yet to be informed and formal identification has not taken place. A post-mortem examination will be held in due course.
Police have confirmed that a man has been arrested on suspicion of murder.
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called at 9.58pm yesterday to reports of an incident at a residential address in Park Road.
"We sent an ambulance crew, two medics in cars, an incident response officer and a clinical team manager.
"We also dispatched a London's Air Ambulance trauma team by car.
"Sadly, a person died at the scene."
A spokesperson for Met Police said: "A man was detained nearby shortly after the call was made to police.
"He was arrested on suspicion of murder and taken to a south London police station where he remains in custody.
"At this early stage, it is believed he and the victim were known to each other.
"Enquiries continue."
