Residents can now pick up a covid test with their book at three libraries in Wandsworth.
Battersea, Tooting and Wandsworth libraries will be handing out home tests from 1 June.
The move comes in a bid to keep COVID-19 out of the borough, and identify those who have the virus and do not display any symptoms, which rapid lateral flow tests can detect.
Cllr Ravi Govindia, Leader of Wandsworth Council, said: “It’s great news that you can now access COVID-19 tests at public libraries, making it easier than ever for those that live and work in Wandsworth to access home testing kits. It is vital that we all get tested twice a week to limit the spread of COVID-19.
“Home testing kits are quick and easy to use and they help us protect our local communities. Now, when you are visiting one of our participating libraries – don’t just pick up a book, pick up a test!”
Other ways to get tested for COVID-19 include:
· Book a supervised test at a local pharmacy - a total of 23 local pharmacies across Wandsworth are offering supervised tests. This service is available for anyone aged 18 years and above. Appointments must be booked in advance. Operating hours vary between pharmacies.
· Collect a home test locally - this includes local pharmacies or PCR testing centres.
· Order tests online for free - for people who can’t collect tests from a local site, you can order a box of tests online, or through 119, which will be delivered to your home.
