A MAN has been charged with causing the death of a 21-year-old woman who was struck in a hit and run in Cheam last year.
Alex Barnett, 28, of Brocks Drive, Cheam has been charged with causing death by careless driving following the death of Rhiannon Hall.
Rhiannon was enjoying a 'rare night out' when she was hit by a car on London Road, near the junction with Garth Road on October 16.
Despite the air ambulance team, paramedics and ICU team's best efforts, her machines were turned off on October 22.
Rhiannon's family attended Croydon Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday (June 22), where Barnett was also charged with failing to stop at the scene of a collision and failing to report a collision.
Barnett will next appear at the Old Bailey on Tuesday, July 20.
Rhiannon's auntie Jodie Hall told Your Local Guardian: "We are truly devastated that not only we have lost our beautiful Rhiannon, we now have to go through the agonising pain of a trial.
"He didn’t stop, and he didn’t report the accident. He has no care for Rhiannon or her babies. Two children are without a mum.
"Our lives have stood still for the past eight months. One heart stopped that day in October, but many hearts were broken.
"We want justice."
