Lidl has published a long and ambitious list of desired locations it wants to build new stores in, with dozens of potential openings in south London.
Announcing plans to open 50 new stores in 2021, the German discounter has revealed its annual list of target locations, with 237 found in London.
In south London, 79 new possible store locations have been named, including both Deptford and Lewisham High Street, from Sidcup to Crayford, Lee to Beckenham.
South west locations include York Road in Wandsworth, Richmond, Chessington, Wimbledon and Sutton/Cheam.
In a statement, Lidl said their expansion across Great Britain was "continuing at pace," with more than 20 new stores opening so far this year.
The discount foodstore chain said they were on track for an ambitious 1,000 stores by the end of 2023, with all new sites to feature solar panels and electric vehicle charging points.
Currently the company has 860 stories in the UK, with the expansion part of £1.3bn plans for 2021 and 2022 which include opening 50 new stores this year, creating 2,000 jobs.
Christian Härtnagel, CEO at Lidl GB said: “We are calling on developers and landlords up and down the country to help find potential sites for us to build Lidl stores, which demonstrates the continued ambition we have to further expand our store portfolio across the nation.
"Despite the challenges of the past year, we still managed to meet our ambitious target of opening, on average, one new store per week across Great Britain.
“We are looking forward to opening more stores throughout the country and welcoming new colleagues in the coming months and years, so that more communities can access high quality food at the lowest prices on the market.”
