Health bosses in Croydon are urging adults in the borough to get vaccinated against Covid-19 as cases in the borough continue to rise.
The increase in cases is not leading to more people ending up in hospital and on ventilation. This is due to the success of the vaccination, Croydon Health Services Trust says.
As of Wednesday (July 7) there were 16 Covid-19 patients in the hospital, including two on ventilation.
For the seven days up to July 2 there was a case rate in the borough of 174.8 per 100,000 people, up from 90.8 per 100,000 the previous week.
This compares to a rate of 201 and 252 per 100,000 in London and England respectively.
Elaine Clancy, chief nurse at Croydon University Hospital, said: “We know that the vaccine is effective and we would encourage everyone to get the jab to stay safe from COVID and help us get life back to normal.”
To make it easier for people to get the vaccination there are six sites currently running sessions where people can walk-in without an appointment. Some are offering both Pfizer and AstraZeneca jabs, while others offer just one of the two shots.
Centrale Shopping Centre will be open everyday until Monday, July 19 from 8am to 7pm offering Pfizer and AstraZeneca.
Croydon University Hospital, Shirley House, will be open from 8am to 7pm, until Friday, July 9 offering Pfizer jabs only.
Fairfield Halls is open from 10am to 6pm, today only (Thursday, July 8) offering Pfizer.
Mayday Community Pharmacy is open everyday in July from 9.30am to 6pm offering Pfizer and AstraZeneca.
Selhurst Park Stadium is open everyday until July 19 from 8.30am to 7pm offering Pfizer and AstraZeneca.
St Paul’s Church in Thornton Heath is open from 10am to 6pm, until July 10 offering Pfizer.
