Two men have been charged with the murder of Kai Davis in Kingston, police announced this evening (Thursday, September 2).
Joseph Barker, 22, from Uxbridge, and Ben Myles, 22, from Southall, will appear in custody at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Friday (September 3), charged with murder and possession of an offensive weapon.
In a short statement confirming the information published Thursday, a spokesperson for the Met Police said both men were arrested by homicide detectives from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command yesterday (September 1).
As the Surrey Comet reported, Kai was fatally stabbed on Clarence Street in Kingston in the early hours of Saturday, August 21.
Two others have previously been arrested after police launched a murder investigation into the stabbing.
An 18-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of murder has been released with no further action.
A second man, aged 19, was arrested on suspicion of murder. He was taken to a south London police station and was subsequently released on bail to return on a date in mid-September.
DCI Kate Kieran, leading the investigation, said earlier this week: "A dedicated team of detectives is working on this investigation. We remain committed to bringing justice to Kai’s family. I can’t imagine how difficult this time must be for them and I thank them for their continued support as we progress all lines of enquiry.
"The Met is committed to tackling violence across London, but we cannot do it alone. I continue to appeal for information. There were a large number of people present when this happened and I urge those people to come forward. You may be able to help us significantly in our investigation."
