British Transport Police has released a statement after a fatality on rail tracks caused major travel disruption on Saturday.
Officers said they were called to South Croydon station at around 7am following reports of a casualty on the tracks.
Paramedics attended and a man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The incident is not being treated as suspicious.
All services between between Gatwick Airport, Purley and East Croydon were stopped during the morning, and other journeys were "heavily impacted" with delays throughout the day.
A spokesperson for British Transport Police said: "Officers were called to South Croydon station at 7.02am on Saturday 11 September following reports of a casualty on the tracks.
"Paramedics also attended, and sadly a man was pronounced dead at the scene.
"The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."
