A man has been rushed to hospital after a shooting in Garratt Lane in Tooting this afternoon.
A large police presence was reported in the area after reports emerged of three loud 'gunshots'.
As reported in our live blog, witnesses described Garratt Lane as a "ghost town" as people scattered from the area following the gunshots.
One person said police were swarming the scene and "everyone was trying to work out what the hell was happening."
Met Police then worked to cordon off Garratt Lane and set up a crime scene as officers were seen searching the area and going door to door on Garratt Lane and Fairlight Road.
In a statement, the police force said: "Officers were called at 12:59 on Mon 27/09 to Garrett Lane SW17.
"A man at the location was suffering from gunshot injuries and has been taken to hospital.
"His condition is not thought life threatening at this time. Enquiries continue and no arrests made."
London Ambulance Service (LAS) said they were also called at 1pm and treated the person at the scene before taking them to a major trauma centre.
