Police have launched an investigation after a teenage boy was fatally stabbed in Croydon.
Officers were called to London Road, at 6.40pm on Thursday to reports of a fight amongst a group of people.
While no suspects or victims were found at the scene, at around 7.10pm police were called to a south London hospital where a teenager had self-presented with stab wounds.
Despite the efforts of medical staff, the boy was pronounced dead.
The boy’s death is the 27th teenage stabbing fatality in the capital in 2021, equal to a previous peak in 2017.
A crime scene has been put in place in London road and inquiries are ongoing.
Homicide detectives have also been informed of the incident.
A Section 60, giving police greater stop and search powers, has been put in place in the areas of Broad Green, Fairfield, Waddon, west Thornton, Bensham Manor, Selhurst and Addiscombe West until 10.30am on Friday.
