Two people were killed in a three-car crash on the A3 last night.
The fatal accident is being investigated by Surrey Police.
Inspector Atkinson of Surrey Police said: "Drivers of two of the three vehicles died at the scene. One was a female in her 60s, the other was a male in his 50s.
"The driver of the third car sustained insignificant injuries and is assisting police with inquiries."
The accident happened at about midnight at the A3 junction with Copsem Lane.
Firefighters were called to attend the scene. Crew manager Ian Meyer said: "There was a terrible accident on the Esher bypass of the A3. Surrey Police are dealing with it but from what I understand it was very nasty."
The A3 was closed until 5am while the scene was cleared.
