Wetherspoons has recently announced plans to permanently close one of its Croydon pubs – and those who frequent there are not very happy.
The British pub chain confirmed the final day of trading at the Skylark in South End Road will be on March 27.
The news follows the closure of the Milan Bar, another Wetherspoon-owned pub, which closed in Croydon town centre on February 14.
Here’s how Your Local Guardian readers reacted as Skylark prepares to close its doors.
Thomas Griggs said: “Probably the only pub in Croydon I didn't go in!!”
Aaron Strutt said: “It’s a shame.”
Adriane Clarke said: “No! Where the sense of community spirit. No!.”
Chloe Clarke said: “I must say, I am a little sad about this.
"I have been going there for a long time and it always seemed overall pretty reasonable.”
Norman Noel said: “Sad to see another one go.”
Anne Tejada said: “Nooo! Got some fab memories from that pub!.”
Nicholas Afuwape said: “Why!”
The chain also confirmed there will be no redundancies as all staff will be offered jobs at other Wetherspoon pubs in the area.
The pub chain has more than 850 venues across the UK, according to its website.
The pub is also located near other venues such as Co-op and Tesco express.
