A cyclist has sustained a head injury after a she was hit by a car in Merton this morning.
Police and emergency services were called to reports of a cyclist being knocked over by a car on London Road junction with Langdale Avenue in Mitcham.
The incident occurred at 11.32am today (March 25) and the road is currently closed.
The car had also crashed into a building and furniture in the street.
The incident will cause major traffic disruptions as well as bus diversions – according to Police.
Officers have said to avoid the area if possible.
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: “Police and London Ambulance Service were called to a cyclist knocked over by a motor vehicle on London Road junction with Langdale Avenue, Mitcham at 11:32 this morning.
“A woman has sustained head injuries.
“The vehicle has also collided with a building and street furniture.
“The road will be closed and will likely cause major traffic disruption in the area as well as bus diversions.
“We would ask drivers avoid the area where possible.”
