Croydon will head to the polls on May 5 to vote in new councillors.
And, for the first time locals will be voting for a directly elected mayor.
It comes after a referendum took place in October 2021 on how things are run in the borough.
he referendum was triggered following a campaign launched in February 2020 by the group Democratically Elected Mayor of Croydon.
The new mayor will replace the current leader of the council, who is voted in by their own party.
Local elections take place every four years and council seats in all of London’s 32 boroughs are up for election.
There are 70 seats on the council which currently has 40 Labour, 29 Conservative and one independent councillor.
It has been a Labour administration since 2014.
