Two men have been taken to hospital after being assaulted amid a disturbance in a large group of people in Penge.

Police were called to the large group, including some people on mopeds, causing a disturbance around the area of Penge Road and Kings Road on Tuesday at 7.15pm.

Two men were assaulted and taken to hospital for treatment.

Police have clarified that they were not stabbed and neither man's injuries are life threatening.

Officers have not released any further details about the men.

Two men, 28 and 42, and a woman, 51, were arrested at the scene on suspicion of offences including grievous bodily harm and affray.

They remain in custody.

Police are asking for anyone who was in the area and witnessed the incident, or captured events on their phone, to make contact immediately.

Police said on Tuesday that two men were stabbed and four arrested in Penge Road, and have now confirmed this is the same incident as above with details now clarified.

A Met Police spokesperson said: "Police are appealing for witnesses and information after two people were injured following an altercation in Penge.

"Officers were called at around 19:15hrs on Tuesday, 3 May following reports of a large group of people, including a number of people on mopeds, causing a disturbance in the vicinity of Penge Road, junction with Kings Road, SE25.

"Two males – no further details – were assaulted and taken to hospital for treatment.

"Neither man’s injuries are life threatening.

"They were not stabbed.

"Two men, aged 28 and 42 and one woman aged 51 were arrested at the scene for offences including grievous bodily harm [GBH] and affray; they remain in custody at this time.

"Officers are appealing for anyone who was in the area and witnessed this incident, or captured events on their phone, to contact them immediately.
