A man has been taken to hospital after being bitten by a police dog during an arrest in Croydon.
Officers were called to reports of an attempted car break-in at Birdhouse Rise.
The incident happened yesterday (May 15) shortly after 12.50pm.
A man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of going equipped for theft, money laundering, and possession with intent to supply class A drugs.
He was also further arrested on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker.
He was bitten by a police dog during the arrest and has been taken to hospital for treatment.
Police enquiries continue.
A spokesperson for Met Police said: “Police were called to a residential property in Birdhouse Rise, south Croydon, at 12.54pm on Sunday, 15 May, reports of an attempted break-in to a car.
“Officers attended.
"A man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of going equipped for theft, money laundering and possession with intent to supply class A drugs.
“He was also arrested on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker (one of the officers who helped to detain and arrest him).
“During the course of the arrest, the man was bitten by a police dog so he has been taken to hospital for treatment.
“Enquiries continue.”
